Pauls Valley Airport - Oklahoma's Hidden Gem
Flying Journalism, Contributing Writer & Photographer

Many people have never heard of Pauls Valley Oklahoma. It has a population of about 6,000 people and about 18,000 square yards of brick streets. Making it the town with the most brick streets in the United States! KPVJ is their general aviation airport.

Standing just 968 feet above sea level, boasting a 5,000 foot runway, the facility is big enough to handle a Gulfstream, and small enough to keep a Cessna happy! With cheap fuel prices, Pauls Valley is an attraction for all aviation in the local area and beyond! Not to mention, the town has a lot to offer.

Lush countryside boasts beautiful views in any direction along the field.

The Airport office operates like an FBO. It has a comfort lounge for pilots looking to relax. Nice Lazy-Boy recliners are clean and ready to use! Most importantly, the wall of fame for all the pilots who soloed is awesome (some shirts went back to the 1970's.) There is a fridge with snacks and drinks in case you need to refuel your body!

The town is located just two miles north of the airport. To most of us pilots, the crucial question is... How do you get there? Well, there is a crew car available for pilots! If you need the crew car, simply call ahead and make arrangements. The staff at the airport was absolutely fantastic and very hospitable!

Crew cars are ready for an outing on the town.
Feels like I am in real America!

The beauty of a small town doesn't get any better than brick roads, historic buildings, and museums you never expected! The food is also one of the highlights at Pauls Valley. You can find over 20+ restaurants that are unique to Pauls Valley. In addition to that, you could even find fast food (if you don't have time to sit down and eat.)

The Boomerang Diner is a hit among the tourists and the locals!
Some of the major attractions at Pauls valley are the awesome museums. Believe it or not, the Action Figure Museum hosts 13,000 action figures and toys on display at any given time. I guess you could say, "action figures outnumber people in Pauls Valley." Nearly 25,000 visitors come here for the Action Figure Museum from all 50 states and over 40 countries.

No trip is complete without a stop at the Santa Fe Depot Museum. Located near the Amtrak station which was originally built by Santa Fe Railroad in 1905. The Depot Museum has some of the coolest pieces of original history you could see and touch! Did you know Smith Paul (the person who the town is named after) was one of the first European settlers who came west. In 1837, when the Chickasaw people were forced into Indian Territory. Smith Paul moved with the Chickasaw people and married a Chickasaw woman.

The museum staff was so nice. They will show you around the museum and share the history that makes Paul's Valley so special.
The man in the white beard is the founding father of the town (Smith Paul.)
Time to start packing up and load the bags. We'll be back soon!

Rich with culture to say the least, Pauls Valley is an incredible experience. Put this place on your bucket list of airports you want to see. The airport is well maintained, the town is amazing, the food is delicious, and you will have the pleasure of meeting some of the nicest people in America! Until next time, fly safe, and remember "life is worth flying for!"
