Across the US and around the world there are, what many refer to as, "flying farmers." Though the image of the flying farmer has changed in many ways from the early days in aviation, the family airstrip can be a great place to fly from or to drop into for a visit. Most are welcoming to other aviators but make sure you know the area and airstrip before arriving. It probably wouldn't hurt to contact the airstrip owner as well as some, such as the Wolford Family, require a PPR (Prior Permission Required) in order to fly into their strip.
