Copperstate Fly-In 2022 / Thunderbirds Over Daytona - Double Feature

This week, we're giving you a double feature of flying fun! In our first article, we follow Dennis McLain as he shows us some highlights from this year's COPPERSTATE Fly-In & Expo.

After, you can almost hear the roar of the Thunderbirds as they fly over the Daytona 500 in a photo essay from Gary Rosier.

Because of Covid, the COPPERSTATE Fly-In & Expo was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. Now it is back with something new! STOL Drag Competition

Held in Conjunction with Buckeye Air Fair

KBXK, Buckeye Municipal Airport, Arizona

February 17-20, 2022

First year of the STOL Drags were a great crowd pleaser.

Because of the STOL Drags, there were many tail draggers on hand and when not flying, pilots, friends and family were just hanging out watching the fun.

As with every COPPERSTATE Fly-In & Expo, education is a major feature. Workshops and forums are available each day. Mo Sheldon, paramotor pilot, instructor and manufacturer explained what the sport is about and displayed his latest foot-launch model.

Within the Hassen Hangar were many booths that catered to many pilot needs including, real estate, navigation, available organizations and training opportunities

There were several outside displays including both fixed wing offerings as well as flex.

Teal Jenkins was on hand presenting his beautifully crafted redrive for Yamaha engines.
